Sustainability Tour at Finca Rosa Blanca
Finca Rosa Blanca also offers you an exceptional opportunity to take part in our vision for a more sustainable future, supporting local communities and the pristine, natural environment of Costa Rica, in luxurious, relaxing and truly memorable settings. We can plan individual visits to the local schools where you can share a day with the children of Barrio Jesus; help plant a native tree in our organic coffee farm and eat lunch with the kids at our local “Children’s Food Bank”. Finca Rosa Blanca was the first hotel in Costa Rica to achieve the 5 “green leaf” sustainability ranking in our famous certification program (CST) and is the only hotel that has earned a perfect 100% ranking. After a brief history of Rosa Blanca and our journey toward total sustainability, we will visit the “back of the house” to learn about our “good practices”; including our use of biodegradable products in the hotel and laundry, solar drying area, solar panels for heating water, and the copper silver ionization system for the pool. We will walk the trails identifying native trees and plants, their uses and tastes, the organic garden, coffee and orchards, the recycling center, compost center and red-worm farm, as well as the horse stables. |

Bird Watching and Coffee Plantation Hike
Walk with our naturalist guide through the grounds of Rosa Blanca and the surrounding coffee farms in the early morning, experiencing the wealth of bird life in our own backyard. The coffee plant evolved in Africa under the rainforest canopy and grows best in the shade. A traditional coffee farm can provide habitat to exuberantly varied birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, insects, trees and flowering plants. The amazing thing about coffee farming is that it can be done in harmony with tropical forest conservation - and for many centuries, it was. Many of our familiar warblers, tanagers, orioles and thrushes benefit from habitat provided by shade-grown coffee plantations, as do rainforest icons including parrots, toucans, motmots, and hummingbirds. These farms also provide habitat for a multitude of organisms, from mammals and amphibians to plants, fungi, and invertebrates. Day Trips from Finca Rosa Blanca
Finca Rosa Blanca is perfectly located in the Central Valley and a myriad of day trips can be taken with our renowned and certified guides. Enjoy viewing the wild rare and tropical birds in the Carara Reserve, like the great Scarlet Macaw or take a trip to Poás Volcano, the second largest crater in the world. Hike in the cloud forest of Braulio Carillo National Park, which is still undiscovered by most tourists and hike to the lake at the base of the Barva Volcano, where there are tapirs, cats, monkeys and highland birds. A guided floating tour on the Sarapiqui River, declared a National Historical Monument, where you will have the opportunity to spot many kinds of reptiles, crocodiles, caimans, iguanas, howler, spider, and squirrel monkeys and countless exotic birds such as toucans and green macaws in their natural habitat. Take the family on a zip line through the canopy where your adrenaline will flow and then return to Finca Rosa Blanca, exhilarated and ready to relax amongst our gardens or in the Hot Tub. Enjoy the beautiful sunset with your family while breathing in the rich oxygenated breezes and enjoying the views across the valley to the mountains beyond.

Horseback Riding
At Finca Rosa Blanca we have superb horses for riding whatever your level of experience. Our guide and horse wrangler can take you on the roads above the hotel where you can trot into the coffee fields and see the beautiful “cafetales” or for the more ambitious, ride up to the edge of Braulio Carillo National Park, stopping for lunch along the way at one of the many rustic and authentic “tipico” restaurants. |

Coffee Tours through our Sustainable Organic and Shade Grown Arabica Coffee Plantation
A family trip through our coffee fields is informative, interesting and really fun. Partake of the astonishing knowledge of one of Costa Rica’s most knowledgeable coffee experts. You can even participate in the coffee harvest, Oct.-Jan. You will visit our “Casa De Café” where we roast and pack our green beans, which you can enjoy throughout your visit at Finca Rosa Blanca. For those aficionados of the golden bean, you will learn how to differentiate coffee through a cupping, where you will sample and compare coffees and learn how to distinguish between the various smells and tastes of premium coffee. Kids love the experience and will enjoy the hike and the chance to learn why their parents are so taken with the famous infusion. |

Every Day
Wake in the morning to the sounds of tropical birds and the smells of our shade grown organic freshly roasted coffee, freshly squeezed juices and homemade pastries. Explore the mountains on horseback, hike with the Inn’s on-site naturalist through coffee farms in search of the exotic Morpho butterfly or watch the 100 species of tropical and migrant birds (click here to visit Birds of Finca Rosa Blanca and enjoy our crystal clear solar-heated chemical-free waters of the spectacular swimming pool, framed by tropical flowers and trees with views to the valley below and mountains beyond.
