We have planted over 5,000 native trees on our plantations producing shade for our organic coffee and with the help of the
environmental protection agency (MINAE) and local school children we have also created biological corridors for the birds and animals of the area.

We use no agrochemicals, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides on the farm preferring to apply the natural compost from our vermiculture (worm beds) and composting at the hotel and to use the natural enemies of the fungus and pests which can plague coffee.

The coffee is planted using the natural topography of the farm to avoid erosion and water waste and is protected by natural fences planted with native shrubs and trees. We encourage our guests to join us on a tour of our plantation where they will learn how organic coffee is grown, harvested, dried and processed. The guest can then better enjoy Rosa Blanca’s coffee at breakfast and any time of the day in the restaurant and bar knowing the inner-workings of an organic coffee farm.
